Additional details

Marshal Baghramyan Metro Station is a useful stop for the western side of central Yerevan. Located on the main metro line between Barekamutyun and Yeritasardakan, it serves Marshal Baghramyan Avenue and the area around Lovers’ Park. For visitors, this station is especially helpful when the destination is not Republic Square but the quieter administrative, diplomatic and green part of Kentron.

The station opened in 1981 and was originally known as Saralanj before being renamed in honour of Marshal Hovhannes Baghramyan, a prominent Armenian military commander. Today, the station is associated with one of Yerevan’s most important avenues. Nearby points of interest include Lovers’ Park, the National Assembly area, several public institutions and cultural or administrative buildings. This makes the station practical for appointments, walks, meetings and city routes that begin away from the busiest tourist core.

For travellers, Marshal Baghramyan is valuable because it offers a calmer central access point. Republic Square and Yeritasardakan are excellent for museums, cafes and busy city walks, but Marshal Baghramyan is better when the plan includes the park, Baghramyan Avenue or institutions on the western side of the centre. It can also be used as a starting point for walking toward Cascade, depending on your route and comfort with Yerevan’s slopes and street layout.

The station is also useful for residents and commuters. It connects directly to Barekamutyun in one direction and to Yeritasardakan, Republic Square and southern stations in the other. During workdays, the surrounding area can become active because of offices, official buildings and traffic along the avenue. For that reason, passengers should allow time for street crossings and keep the exact address ready if visiting an institution or embassy-area destination.

Marshal Baghramyan is not the station most visitors choose for their first photo of Yerevan, but it is one of the stations that makes the metro genuinely useful beyond the classic sightseeing loop. It gives access to a greener, more formal and slightly quieter part of the city centre. Use it for Lovers’ Park, Baghramyan Avenue, administrative appointments, or a calmer walk through central Yerevan. If your plan is focused on Republic Square, choose the station named after the square; if your plan is focused on the western central district, Marshal Baghramyan is often the smarter stop.
