Barekamutyun to Garegin Nzhdeh Metro Route in Yerevan

The Barekamutyun to Garegin Nzhdeh Square route is the easiest way to understand Yerevan Metro. It follows the main M1 line from the north-western side of the city toward the southern district of Shengavit, passing through the most useful central stations for visitors and daily commuters. For a traveller, this route is valuable because it connects residential areas, government and university districts, Republic Square, the central railway station area and southern neighbourhoods without the need to negotiate traffic or search for a taxi.

From Barekamutyun, trains run through Marshal Baghramyan, Yeritasardakan, Republic Square, Zoravar Andranik, Sasuntsi Davit, Gortsaranayin and Shengavit before reaching Garegin Nzhdeh Square. Charbakh is not on the straight through-service between Barekamutyun and Garegin Nzhdeh Square; it is reached by the short branch connected through Shengavit. For sightseeing, the central part of this route is the most useful. Republic Square is the best stop for the National Gallery, History Museum of Armenia, the government buildings, musical fountains and many central hotels. Yeritasardakan works well for the Ring Park, Abovyan Street, universities, cafes and the cultural quarter near the Opera. Marshal Baghramyan gives access to Lovers’ Park, Baghramyan Avenue and several public institutions. Zoravar Andranik is helpful for Tigran Mets Avenue, Rossia Mall and Saint Gregory the Illuminator Cathedral, while Sasuntsi Davit is the key metro stop for Yerevan’s central railway station.

The route is also practical for everyday transport. It is cheaper than a taxi, usually predictable, and often faster than surface transport during busy city hours. Transport for Armenia lists the M1 journey between Barekamutyun and Garegin Nzhdeh Square at about 19 minutes, although passengers should still allow extra time for walking to the platform, buying or scanning a ticket, and finding the correct exit. The metro is especially convenient when travelling with a simple day plan: one station for a museum, another for a park, another for a shopping street or railway connection.
