The Police of Armenia is the main authority to contact for law-enforcement matters such as theft, assault, threats, violence, public disorder, suspicious behavior, lost or stolen documents, harassment, fraud, road-related disputes and situations that require police presence. The short emergency number for police in Armenia is 102. For visitors, this number is especially important to save before traveling, because it may be needed after a passport theft, hotel incident, taxi dispute, street conflict, vehicle problem or any situation where official police documentation is required.

The central police address in Yerevan is publicly listed as 130 Nalbandyan Street, Yerevan 0025. Public contact listings also include general inquiry and duty officer numbers, but for urgent situations the number to remember is 102. If the situation involves serious injury, medical danger or a person who needs immediate treatment, call 103 for ambulance as well. If the emergency includes fire, rescue needs or unclear danger, 112 or 911 may also be used for emergency coordination in Armenia. The right first call depends on the immediate risk: police for crime or danger, ambulance for medical emergency, rescue or fire services for fire and hazardous situations.

When calling police, give information in a calm and structured way. State your location first: city, street, building number, hotel name, nearby landmark or map pin if available. Then explain what happened, whether the incident is happening now, how many people are involved, whether anyone is injured and whether there is a weapon or immediate danger. Provide your name and phone number if you can. If you do not speak Armenian or Russian, ask a hotel receptionist, local friend, tour operator, driver or passerby to help communicate with the operator. In stressful situations, even a short written note with the address and problem can help.

For lost passports, stolen wallets or insurance claims, ask how to obtain an official report or confirmation document. Travelers should keep copies of their passport, visa page if relevant, insurance policy and emergency contacts separately from the original documents. If the incident involves a foreign citizen, contacting the relevant embassy or consulate may also be necessary after the police report is started. For non-emergency administrative questions, do not use 102 unless the matter requires police response; use official police channels or visit during appropriate working hours. Emergency numbers should be kept available for real urgent situations.
